Thunder Get Hard-Earned Win, Stop Caribou, 5-4
|
In a tight contest at Gatorade Stadium, the Key West Thunder edged the Frobisher Bay Caribou by the score of 5-4. Key West pinch hitter William Torres, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. Arturo Macias snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 1.2 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. The win for the Thunder raised their record to 23-18.
Torres had a timely hit for Key West in the bottom of the eighth. With Key West trailing 4-2, he turned a 1-1 slider into a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season, making it 5-4, Key West.
Key West manager Kwang-rak Song commended his team for "bagging a nice win."
