Mettlen Pounds 2 Homers in 6-5 Stogies Win
|
The Havana Stogies got a rain-soaked win over the Mexico City Luchadores.
Due in large part to center fielder Erik Mettlen, the Havana Stogies sunk the Mexico City Luchadores, 6-5. Mettlen slugged 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The third-place Stogies have a record of 45-46.
Mettlen had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 1-1 cutter from Ray Heck, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Stogies a 6-5 lead. It was the 11th home run of the year for Mettlen.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Mettlen.
