Nate Gavin of the Sylva Miners spun his magic on the Thunder Bay Lighting. He blanked them, 15-0, on 1 hit, registering 13 strikeouts and 2 walks.

"The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," Gavin said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down."

Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, Sylva skipper Armando Medina said the team "got solid pitching, good defense and took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations."

"Nate pitched really well but this was a solid performance by everyone," he said.

This season, Gavin has a 4-1 record with a 5.52 ERA.
