The Sylva Miners cruised to a win over the Syracuse Orange Sox, 13-4, at Syracuse Fields. Ezequiel Ramos led the way, going 2-for-2 for Sylva. The first-place Miners have a one-game lead in their division.

The Orange Sox had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Miners going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old second baseman Pat Tufts came to the plate. Tufts hit a 2-run triple on a 2-2 sinker from Syracuse hurler Marcos Ortiz. It was Tufts's 6th triple of the year.

In postgame remarks, Ramos said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
