Cougars Rally For Late Win Over Storm
|
Wichita got a terrific performance from pitcher Blaise Hughes, but it wasn't enough to beat the Prince George Cougars. Prince George won the The Storm Center contest, 4-2. Hughes was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball. Prince George reliever Daniel Lino was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Blaise Hughes took the loss for Wichita. The Cougars raised their record to 13-6.
Ron Jester produced at a critical juncture for Prince George. It happened in the top of the eighth with Blaise Hughes on the mound and Prince George trailing 2-1. That's when the 21-year old right fielder Jester hit a 2-run home run.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Jester said.
