Boca Raton wasted a solid 8-inning effort from starting pitcher Amir Smith, losing to Kyoto, 2-1, at Sacred Kinkaku-ji Grounds. The winner was Milt Yount, who threw 111 pitches over 6.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 8 hits. The Strong Style bumped their record to 9-9 with this latest triumph.
In the bottom of the third, Kyoto designated hitter Carlos Torrez had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 3rd and two out, Torrez stroked a 2-run home run to right-center. It made the score 2-0, Kyoto. For the game, he was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
