Stanley Wilks did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Sylva Miners from being beaten, 6-5, to the Syracuse Orange Sox at Pickaxe Field. Wilks went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Keith Fall earned the save for Syracuse, his 4th of the year. Syracuse has an impressive 22-7 record.

Syracuse used a clutch at-bat from Aaron Proctor to capture the win. The pinch hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Orange Sox ahead, 5-3. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a humdinger.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Proctor said.
