Commies Capture Extra-Inning Win
The Caribbean Commies had to overcome a good performance from Brooklyn pitcher Jorge Melgoza to claim a 2-1 win at Castro Field. Melgoza went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Even with the win, the Commies have a dismal 6-22 record.

Caribbean got a clutch hit from Mario Garcia. The third baseman launched a solo home run in the bottom of the 13th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.

Garcia told reporters after the game: "Runs were scarce, so we had to work hard to get the W."
