Commies Hope Win Turns Around Slow Start
|
The Caribbean Commies beat the Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas, 7-3, at Castro Field. Sam Winter was recognized as player of the game for his performance. He was 2-3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The 21-year old catcher was a menace to Boca Raton all day. Orlando Bernal closed the door for Caribbean, picking up his 1st save of the year. The Commies are off to a tough start, getting just their 5th win in 14 games.
Winter had a key at-bat for Caribbean early in the game. With the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run double. It was his 5th double of the season and gave Caribbean an early 3-1 lead.
"It was a solid team effort," said Winter after the game.
