Daniel Ramos pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Scottsdale Scorpions, despite Ramos's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the Thunder Bay Lighting at Lightning Grove. Joe Pierce snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-0 on the season. Daniel Ramos suffered the loss. Mike Gorske closed out the game, earning his 1st save.
The Lighting got a big at-bat from right fielder Sam Spurr. For the game, Spurr went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Thunder Bay a 2-0 lead.
Spurr said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
With the victory, the Lighting record stands at 15-4.
