The Varmits grabbed a win, 5-4, at The Storm Center, overcoming a fine effort from Wichita pitcher Tony Garcia. Garcia went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Jose Mendez picked up the win in relief for Yuma, while Jon Barajas took the loss. The Storm, at 2-49, have lost 47 in a row.

Yuma used the timely hitting of Francisco Duran to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Varmits on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Wichita manager Daniel Carrasco.
