Miners Score 9-2 Win Over Cyclones
|
The Sylva Miners called upon starter Jim Jones, and he delivered, leading his team to victory over the Brooklyn Cyclones, 9-2. Bobby Chavarin notched his 1st save of the season. The Miners, now 12-2, have stormed out of the gates.
Pat Tufts had a big 3-run home run for the Miners in the bottom of the third inning. With Sylva leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 18-year old right-handed pitcher Juan Diaz and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Miners on top, 4-0.
"It's nice to get the results when you're feeling good and throwing the ball well," said Jones after the game.
