Thunder Win at Caribbean, 6-5
|
The Key West Thunder overcame a good performance by Caribbean left fielder Erik Lubin to knock off Caribbean, 6-5, at Castro Field. Lubin went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Mario Solis earned the win for Key West. He lasted 8.2 innings, allowing no earned runs on 10 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 2-0. Gabriel Aguirre finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
It could have been a different outcome for Key West, had it not been for Willie Vizcarra, the 21-year old right fielder . Vizcarra contributed a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put Key West up, 3-0.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Vizcarra told a Key West Citizen reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
Key West has a mark of 4-5 after the win.
