The Sylva Miners clobbered the Easton Caterpillars, 13-2, at Knockout Stadium by Brooklyn Decker. Sylva second baseman Pat Tufts led the onslaught. He went 2-5 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. Now 1-11, the 2062 Caterpillars have been wretched so far.

With Sylva leading 8-1 in the top of the fifth, Tufts came up to bat against Easton pitcher Mo Arden. Tufts hit a fastball to right-center for a bases-clearing triple. His 3rd triple of the season put the Miners on top, 11-1.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Tufts.
