Varmits Squelch Pirates Offense in Shutout Win
The Yuma Varmits went home winners at The Range, thanks in large part to starter Juan Silva. Silva stifled the Paradise Island Pirates, enabling Yuma to grab the 4-0 win. Roberto Vasquez earned the save, his 6th, for the Varmits. The 4th-place Varmits are now 20-27, the Pirates 35-13.

The Varmits ran into trouble in the top of the fourth. The score was 1-0, Yuma, with no one out. Paradise Island, with runners on 1st and 2nd, had Tommy Li at the plate. With a base hit, he could have changed the complexion of the game. Instead, he hit into a double play and the Varmits went on to win.
