Brooklyn pitcher Matthew Witt had a large part in his team subduing the Thunder Bay Lighting, 7-0. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The second-place Cyclones sport a record of 21-18.

It could have been a different outcome for Brooklyn, had it not been for Manny de la Cruz, the 19-year old right fielder . de la Cruz contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning to put Brooklyn up, 2-0.

"We came out on top and that's all I can ask for," said Witt.
