Giron hits 2 home runs in Nutcrackers Win
|
In a high-scoring game between Normal and Yuma, shortstop Victor Giron was a difference-maker. The 19-year-old helped Normal grab the 10-9 win. He slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Mario Abundis recorded his 5th save for Normal. With the win, Normal goes to 18-20, while the Varmits fall to 12-25.
Normal took advantage of an error in the bottom of the sixth inning. The game was tied, 8-8, when Jose Sanchez hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put the Nutcrackers in front, 10-8.
"This game had a little bit of everything," said Sanchez.
