Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Blazers
|
Though he had a terrific game, Earl Bitner could not prevent his team, the Maple Marauders, from absorbing a loss. Bloomington won the game, 5-4. Bitner went 2 for 6 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The winner was Gil Dial in relief. His record improves to 6-5. Josh Brown took the loss. The Marauders, now 66-94, have lost 10 in a row.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 13th inning, when Bloomington catcher Erik Ware, facing Sam Scott, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Blazers the 5-4 win.
"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Blazers manager Leo Dethwright.
