6 Straight Wins for Lighting
|
The Caribbean Commies had their hands full with Thunder Bay Lighting starter Bobby Whitaker, who frustrated Caribbean hitters while leading Thunder Bay to a comfortable, 6-0 win. Whitaker, now 1-0, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing no runs. The second-place Lighting have won 6 straight games.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Antonio Vasquez? The Thunder Bay shortstop had a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Lighting on top, 2-0. For the game, Vasquez had 1 double and 2 singles in 6 at-bats.
"The vibe's good," said Thunder Bay manager Masamune Fujimoto. "We've got to keep it going."
