|
The Hawaii Honu went home winners at Aloha Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Carlos Avila. Avila stifled the Eagle Rock Ridge Runners, enabling Hawaii to grab the 3-1 win. The winner was Avila. He threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Ricky Rocker. The Honu now have a mark of 85-75.
The Honu got a big boost from first baseman Angelo Garcia who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Ridge Runners hurler Ricky Rocker. It was his 51st walk of the season and put Hawaii on top, 1-0.
"Carlos had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Hawaii manager Naoki Okada.
