Despite the exploits of center fielder Benny Rodriguez, the Eureka Hornets were beaten by the Buffalo Bison, 5-4, in 10 innings. Rodriguez was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. Buffalo, at 91-68, sits in first place in the Thurman Munson League Tim Ervin Division.

The decisive blow was delivered by Cory Starkey in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a solo home run off 20-year old left-handed pitcher Justin Soule to win the game for Buffalo. The home crowd went nuts.

"We own our own mistakes," Starkey told a reporter after the game. "But we share our victories."
