Commies Lose Again, 3-2, to Rangers
|
Starting pitcher Bill Valdes gave the Rockville Rangers a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Caribbean Commies, 3-2, at Brewbaker Memorial Stadium. Angelo Mant picked up the save, his 4th. The win gives the Rangers a record of 14-18.
The Commies had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Rangers going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year old catcher Shigeyuki Okada came to the plate. Okada hit a run-scoring double on a 2-1 fastball from Caribbean hurler Eddie Cabrera. It was Okada's 1st double of the year.
"We just can't get over the hump," said losing manager .
