Eureka Carves Out 7-5 Win
|
Getting a good performance from left fielder Patrick Powell, the Eureka Hornets defeated the Kansas City Tornadoes, 7-5. Powell was 1 for 1 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Hornets. Eureka's record now stands at 91-66, placing them second in the Thurman Munson League Tim Ervin Division.
Powell had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 3-1 sinker from Bobby Milleville, he banged a grand slam home run to left, giving the Hornets a 7-5 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Powell.
"If we play well, we'll win our share of games," said Powell. "The only team that can beat us is us."
