The Dallas Texans defeated the El Paso Mavericks, 7-5. Second Baseman Jon Funk deserved a large share of the credit. Funk was 4 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Texans. Dallas pitcher Wilfredo Velez got the win. He's now 11-11. Biagio Strambi was tagged with the loss. The second-place Texans now sit at 83-74.

Jose Leyba, who is tied for 7th in the RCL with a .321 batting average, helped out the Dallas cause in the bottom of the second inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the third baseman drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances.
