Hornets Stumble, Lose to Eclipse
|
The Chicago Eclipse used an offensive barrage to beat the Eureka Hornets, 10-2, at The Nest. Mike Winn, who is tied for 10th in the TML with a .389 on-base percentage, led the way, going 3-for-4 for Chicago. Chris Titus, who is tied for 3rd in the TML with a 4.08 ERA, was the winner. He's now 17-6. The loser was Cesar Romo. Jason Beeks finished the game for Chicago and earned his 3rd save.
Chicago used the hitting of Eli Neff to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Eclipse on top, 3-2. For the game, Neff had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"What a debacle," groaned Eureka manager Juan Montés in postgame remarks.
With the win, Chicago upped its record to 83-73.
