Butterflies Take Down Mavericks, 8-6
The Pennsylvania Butterflies battled the El Paso Mavericks into extra innings before the outcome was decided. The Butterflies won it, finally, 8-6, in 10 innings. In the game, Pennsylvania first baseman Nick Carnes hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Pennsylvania reliever Dakson Rocket was the winner. His record is now 7-5. Frans van der Meer took the loss. Eric Reichel recorded the save, his 34th.

The result might have been different, had it not been for 22-year old center fielder Bobby Shaw. Shaw had a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Butterflies ahead, 5-4. For the game, Shaw had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said Carnes. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."

At 84-72, the Butterflies are currently third in the Roberto Clemente League Mike Brouillette Division.
