Chicago Downs Eureka, 3-1
|
In a tight tilt between Chicago and Eureka, pitcher Quentin Campbell was a key contributor. The right-hander earned accolades for his standout performance in the 3-1 Eclipse win. Chicago reliever Joe Umlah picked up the win, upping his record to 6-7. Jamie Barlow absorbed the loss. Oscar Zegarra locked down his 10th save.
Had Israel Cardenas not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Cardenas hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Eclipse.
"Tough loss," said Eureka manager Juan Montés. "But that's how the chips sometimes fall."
The win puts Chicago at 80-74 this season.
