Blazers Use Late Surge to Win
Fans who congregated at Field de Los Layendas were treated to extra-inning drama.

The Bloomington Blazers overcame a good performance by Cabo San Lucas designated hitter Shokichi Iwata to knock off Cabo San Lucas, 7-4, in 12 innings at Field de Los Layendas. Iwata was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. Bloomington reliever Jason Phillips picked up the win, raising his record to 4-5. Stuart Perry was tagged with the loss. Brad Meyer locked down his 1st save.

Bloomington used the timely hitting of Jorge Hernandez to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Blazers on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"Exciting game to play in," said Hernandez. "Getting the win makes it even better."

After today's action, Bloomington sits at 89-65, while Cabo San Lucas falls to 59-95.
