Moonshiners Take Down Luchadores, 3-2
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Asheville Moonshiners and Mexico City Luchadores.
The Asheville Moonshiners earned a close win over the Mexico City Luchadores, thanks in part to Jorge Reyes. The Asheville right-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the RCL in complete games with 1, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Jimmy LaPointe, now 8-1, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 0. Earning the save was Steven Shiplack. He's now cashed in 31 of 40 save opportunities.
Gabe Lesesne was 2-3 with 2 singles for Asheville. The 22-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Bob Jordan. It was his 47th RBI of the season.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Reyes told the Asheville Times.
The Moonshiners improved their record to 73-79 with the win over Mexico City.
