Fading Varmits Lose 9th Straight
|
Totems third baseman Ramon Velez left his mark on his team's 5-3 win over the Yuma Varmits. Velez went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for Victoria in the contest. With the loss, Yuma drops to 6-18.
A key moment came when Velez faced Yuma hurler Chris Lansberry in the top of the sixth. The Totems, who were trailing 2-1, had the bases loaded. Velez got a full count fastball and hit a 2-run single.
"From the last whatever, five, six, seven games, there's really only one way to go and that's up," said losing manager Vinny Aceves.
