Texans Squeeze By Asheville, 5-4
|
Asheville third baseman Carlos Sosa had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Sosa was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2, even as Dallas beat the Moonshiners, 5-4, in 12 innings. Michael Benz snagged the win in relief. He goes to 6-10 on the season. Steven Shiplack suffered the loss. Dallas is now 60-89, Asheville 71-78.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the 12th, with the game tied, Ethan Morehead was at the plate when Dallas scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Texans to go in front, 4-3.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Gary Stoy, the Dallas skipper. "This one tested us."
