Montreal Drops Kansas City, 3-1
|
Montreal and Kansas City played a hard-fought contest.
Montreal starter Jason Jensen put the Kansas City offense in a vise grip. The left-hander relied heavily on his fastball in leading the Jazz to a 3-1 win. Kenny Goswick earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 4-6.
Alex Madera provided a timely hit. The Montreal right fielder delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Jazz on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
"Jason executed his pitches at a high level," said Montreal manager Pedro Gonzáles.
The 4th-place Jazz improved to 72-75.
