Despite the exploits of designated hitter David Jankowski, the Montreal Mounties were beaten by the Cabo San Lucas Toreros, 5-4, in 14 innings. Jankowski hit 2 home runs. Cabo San Lucas reliever James Magee snagged the win, upping his record to 3-2. Randy Mowers shouldered the loss. Cabo San Lucas is now 74-73.

Batting in the bottom of the 14th, 30-year old left fielder Shokichi Iwata had a real shot to win the game. Montreal pitcher Randy Mowers was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, Iwata hit a run-scoring single. The Toreros had a walk-off triumph.

"Our team showed some gumption," said Iwata. "I like it."
