The Sedona Sabercats weathered an outstanding game by Coronado third baseman Jon Bailey to topple the Islanders, 7-6. Bailey was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Sedona reliever Carlos Aquino picked up the win, while Miguel Perez took the loss for Coronado. Despite the win, Sedona, now 6-14, is off to a terrible start.
Rey Flores went 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Sedona. The 20-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring walk off Miguel Perez. It was his 9th walk of the season.
"Fun game," said Flores, "even when the outcome was in doubt."
