The home crowd had a good time watching the El Paso Mavericks and Hawaii Honu get after it.

The Hawaii Honu downed the El Paso Mavericks, 5-3, at Aloha Stadium. The Honu were led by Austin Thompson. Thompson went 2-3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Chris Sweeney was the winner. He's now 12-2. The loser was 27-year old right-handed pitcher Edwin Serna.

The game turned with no one out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Thompson hit a 2-run home run off Edwin Serna. It propelled the Honu into the lead, 3-1.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Thompson, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."

After today's action, Hawaii sits at 46-29; El Paso slips to 35-40.
