The Havana Stogies picked up a win at "The Fort" at B.C. Place, downing the Vancouver Pioneers, 4-3. On the mound for Havana was right-hander Prince Williams, who played a pivotal role in the win. Williams got the win, improving to 13-7. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. He allowed 3 runs. Brad Dye was credited with the save for Havana, his 1st of the season.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Allen Larson? The Havana designated hitter had a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Stogies on top, 3-1. For the game, Larson had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
Larson called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
