Eureka and Houghton got after it at The Nest.

The Eureka Hornets clobbered the Houghton Gremlins, 11-2, at The Nest. Leading the onslaught was Mark Bradford. He went 2-3 with a triple and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for Eureka. Jonathan Ortiz got the win, improving to 14-8. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 3. Dan Burk recorded the save, his 3rd.

Eureka center fielder Josh Sweet contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a cutter to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 116th hit of the season and put the Hornets ahead, 3-1.

"We didn't help ourselves, it's as simple as that," said losing manager Dane Freeman.

The Hornets have a one-game lead in the Thurman Munson League Tim Ervin Division.
