Both offenses were relatively subdued at Barack H. Obama Park. Fortunately for the Coronado Islanders, though, Mitsuyoshi Sakuma was able to deliver in the clutch. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, to lead his team past the Oconto Falls Timbers, 3-1. Picking up his 3rd save was 19-year old left-handed pitcher Ross Lane. Coronado has a mark of 6-6 after the win.
Early in the game, Sakuma had a 2-run home run for Coronado. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Islanders on top, 2-0.
In postgame comments to the Coronado Chronicle, Sakuma said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
