|
The Manhattan Slice picked up a win at Copps Park, defeating the Maple Marauders, 7-1. Starting pitcher Eric Jefcoat was an essential part of his team's success. In 6.2 innings, Jefcoat surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Manhattan currently is in 4th place in the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division at 67-74.
The Slice got a big at-bat from third baseman Ryan Wairimu. For the game, Wairimu went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 35th double of the season gave Manhattan a 2-1 lead.
"Eric gave us a heck of an effort," said Manhattan manager Giampaolo Marcovicci.
