The Vancouver Pioneers got a stellar effort from pitcher Gil Ponce, helping Vancouver score a win over the visiting Bighorn Bison, 6-2. Vancouver, at 81-59, holds down second place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.

Luis Gallardo, the Vancouver left fielder, contributed a 2-run single in the bottom of the second inning to make the score 4-2, Pioneers. For the game, Gallardo went 1-2 with a walk and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI.

"Gil's a gamer," said Vancouver manager Jesús Morán. "Glad he's on our side."
