Panthers Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Patriots
The Derby Panthers downed the George Washington Patriots, 3-2, at Managua HS Grounds. Flint Whimster led the way, going 2-for-2 for Derby. Derby reliever Jose Rico picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-1. Alvin Brereton was collared with the loss. Nick Jones was credited with the save for Derby, his 2nd of the season.

Aaron Daugherty chipped in for Derby with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.

"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said George Washington manager James Cobbold.
