Tigers Stymie Topeka West, Take 4-1 Win
|
Ray Shockley never let the Chargers get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his slider, to pitch the Tigers to a 4-1 win. Shockley picked up the win for Tioga Central, going 5.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 3-0. Tioga Central is now 39-26, 2½ games up in the Pete Rose Little League Roger Clemens Division.
The Tigers got a big at-bat from right fielder Barry Olson. For the game, Olson went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 21st home run of the season gave Tioga Central a 2-0 lead.
"We'll savor this win," Olson told the Tioga Central Daily, "then get ready for the next game."
