Day Hits 2 home runs in Poly Win
|
The Riverside Poly topped the Pleasantville Panthers, 12-5, with youngster Marcus Day playing a key role. Day hit 2 home runs, while adding 7 RBI and scoring twice for the Poly in the win. Riverside reliever Justin Allen was credited with the win, to go to 1-2. Bill Savoie took the loss for Pleasantville. At 28-37, the Poly find themselves in 5th place in the Hank Aaron Little League Bob Gibson Division.
Day came through with some timely hitting for Riverside. With the score 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth and two down, Day hit a 0-1 fastball for a grand slam home run. His 10th home run of the season made it 7-2, Riverside.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Jacob Pitcock said.
