Panthers Outmuscle Baie-Comeau, 11-9
|
Baie-Comeau got a terrific game from first baseman Ted Nightingale. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Pitman High, 11-9. Nightingale was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. With the win, the Panthers have a record of 30-35.
Pitman High used the bat of Josh Acello to get the win. The center fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Panthers ahead, 4-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"It was one of those games where both teams were swinging the bat well," Acello said.
