The Topeka West Chargers grabbed a 8-6 win over the Tioga Central Tigers at Alleycats Ballpark. Topeka West right fielder Justin Simms went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once to earn player of the game honors. Topeka West reliever Mark Armstrong picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Larry Myers shouldered the loss. Steve Dean was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 13 of 14 save opportunities.

Simms came through with some timely hitting for Topeka West. With the score 4-4 in the top of the fourth and two down, Simms hit a first pitch cutter for a grand slam home run. His 2nd home run of the season made it 8-4, Topeka West.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Simms told the Topeka West Daily.

The Chargers saw their record improve to 35-29.
