At Ballpark of León HS, the Tenafly Tigers and Santa Clara Vampires were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

The Santa Clara Vampires topped the Tenafly Tigers by a score of 12-5. Leading the way was catcher Rich Kaufman. Kaufman belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Vampires. Santa Clara reliever Tony Dozier picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Brent Wilson was saddled with the loss. Eric Cherubini earned the save for Santa Clara, his 5th.

Santa Clara used the timely hitting of Brian Carr to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Vampires ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"Job one," said Kaufman, "is get the job done."

Santa Clara currently is in first place in the Pete Rose Little League Alex Rodriguez Division at 38-26.
