The Syracuse Orange Sox downed the Rockville Rangers, 7-5, at Brewbaker Memorial Stadium. The Orange Sox were led by Jairo Soto. Soto went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times. Reliever Gil Gatica picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Kazumi Sakata took the loss. Kevin Froehle closed the door for Syracuse, picking up his 1st save of the year.

Syracuse used a well-timed hit by Danny Ledesma to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Orange Sox ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Soto.

Rockville, with the loss, is still a hardy 6-2.
