Getting a good performance from first baseman Wilfredo Ramos, the Paradise Island Pirates defeated the Normal Nutcrackers, 8-5. Ramos was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs for the Pirates. Alex Colon got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 7.2 innings, giving up 10 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 10 and walking 1. With the win, Paradise Island climbs to 3-4.

Gerardo Castillo had a big solo home run for the Pirates in the top of the sixth inning. With Paradise Island leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 17-year old right-handed pitcher Tony Amaro and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Pirates on top, 2-0.
