Loss Diminishes Fine Performance by Zerfas
The Lerna Lions got a sterling performance from right fielder Lance Zerfas, but the Downsview Mustangs still prevailed, 13-10. Zerfas hit 2 home runs. He scored 4 times and drove in 3. Joe Lavigne, 1-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. Phil Mills earned the save for Downsview, his 1st.

Ralph Carrey had a key at-bat with two out in the bottom of the seventh for Downsview. With the bases loaded and the Mustangs leading 9-8, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Carrey. "And not try to do too much."

The second-place Mustangs improved to 34-28.
