Normal Keeps Trending in Wrong Direction

The Coronado Islanders picked up a win at The Nutcracker Suite, dropping the Normal Nutcrackers, 6-3. Melvin Riojas was the difference-maker. Riojas, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 7, and allowing 3 runs. The loss lowers the Normal record to 0-6.
Coronado used a clutch at-bat from Marco Moreno to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Islanders ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We didn't get the results that we wanted," said Normal skipper Juan Colo.
