At Ballpark of Ecatepec HS, the Topeka West Chargers and Lerna Lions were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

Art Branon helped his team muscle past the Topeka West Chargers, 10-6. In the game, the Lerna designated hitter was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 2. The winner in relief was Matt Gramling. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-3.

In the bottom of the seventh, Lerna pinch hitter Chris Rogers put his team on top. With one out and the bases loaded, he hit his 2nd double of the year. Topeka West pitcher Scotty Craig served it up. Just like that, the Lions were ahead, 8-6.

"If I do my job, we've usually got a good chance to win the game," said Rogers.

The third-place Lions hiked their record to 30-29.
